why wasn't this released on a home system?

This game was just as great as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade game. Why wasn't this game released on Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, or any other hoem video game system? Were there ever any plans for this to be released on Nintendo or any other systems?

I know that there were other Simpsons games at the tiem that were made for Nintendo, Game Boy, and other systems, but why not this one? Why not title it The Simpsons: The Arcade Game (similar to how the TNMT arcade game was released on Nintendo as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game)?
