i watched this movie for the 1st time today...but before it ended i had to go to work...so how did it end?
i got up to the bit where they went to visit emily in hospital and started talknig about how they entered her into the audition.....
yes, everybody thought she was going to end with phillip, I hated the end

I had a feeling it would end like it did but I didn't want it to. She barely knew the brother and it wasn't like he had a winning personality or anything. Lol. Plus Michael Angarano was so cute in this movie.

This was the only ending that made sense. The ending doesn't mean that the two love-birds will stay together the rest of their lives. For her, at least, it's a first love and its clearly just infatuation (she liked the way he looked without knowing anything else about him), not mature deep affection. It's not likely to survive a long separation when they go to different colleges. But if she considers Philip a true friend, she is likely to stay in touch with Philip anyhow, as a friend. Later in life the slight difference in age will not matter. Plus, he will have grown taller. So he could have another chance later.
