The performers who are credited with playing Henrietta, Charlie, and Freddie, did they do the voices only are were they in the costumes? Given this was a somewhat low-budget program they might have done both. Anyone know?
They're two different people. In costume, Charlie The Owl was played by former Mousketeer Sharon Baird. His voice was provided by a man named Bill Calloway. Freddie The Frog was played in costume by Yanco Inone(whether that's a man or a woman, I don't know). His(her?) voice was provided by Joni Robbins. Henrietta Hippo was played in costume by Larri Thomas, her southern belle voice was provided by Hazel Shermet, a character actress.
Three years late getting back here but thanks for the info! That must have been kind of hard to film unless the voice actors were off stage or the actors in the costumes said the lines and they were later erased and replaced with the voice actors.
According to the Hazel Shermet interview at the link below, she did the voice of both Henrietta Hippo and Freida the Frog. She starts discussing the New Zoo Revue at 16:50.
