i miss the old disney channel.

it was fun when they would play Sister, Sister, Even Stevens, and Boy Meets World, So Weird and Jett Jackson as well as their other shows. Now all they play is The Suite Life, Hannah Montana, That's So Raven, and The Replacements which they play so much that i've seen every single episode and it's boring to watch now. DC hardly ever plays their older DCOMs which I think were way better than the ones they are making now. Like with The Cheetah Girls and HSM, they are going way overboard with that, showing it as many times as possible.

Everything they show now has to be geared toward little kids, but some older audiences watch too. What happened to their drama movies? Some of the movies that i like are Quints, A Ring of Endless Light, and Tru Confessions. Does DC think that little kids can't handle some tear jerkers? I'm pretty sick of the usual comedy cliche movies/shows.

The cartoons on old disney didn't suck as much either! And, by the way, the "old" disney was actually called Zoog Disney. They still play Sister Sister, Boy meets world, only later. I have 2 disney's one plays boy meets world on 11:00, and the other at 2:00 am, I think ABC family has it on too. I don't rember what time Sister Sister's on though.

But some people say disney didn't make Sister Sister, or Smart Guy. Abc family did, but abc family is still part of disney.

I don't like lizzie mcguire, but I can't believe they took off even stevens and put it on another channel! (they did the same thing with lizzie mcguire)

I Hope your proud of yourself disney!! Make a new channel disney!! That way you keep the new ones, and put on the old ones, and the old good movies!!

Trust me you'll get more popular by doing this disney!!

reply

OMG yea i remember Zoog Disney! it was so awesome

Or when they would have a new movie every month. They barley do movies any more. All they got is HSM. Effing hannah montana and That so raven. Please..i could really care. about those shows. and i barley watch disney anymore unless they have good movies one..which they dont all they play is like Lilo and stech please! play something good like "Hounded" they should at LEAST play some old disney movies.

I totally agree.

The movie you are thinking of is Sky High. That wasn't a DC Original movie though, that was an actual Walt Disney Movie Production and a surprise hit. I liked Sky High also. I think the problem we are having here is that most of the people on this board are like myself, in their early to mid 20s. I'm 25 and I use to watch Nickelodeon and Disny all the time. Nickelodeon had Snick on every Saturday, Disney had Zoog Disney, and Cartoon Network had Toonami. Shows that come on now literally have the same recycled stories that we saw as kids/teens except they have no coherent dialouge and are dumbed way down. It's as if every single thing they show is geared towards kids that are 5 years old and have no brain. Disney Channel is basically marketed to little girls as well with shows like Wizards of Waverly Place, Hannah Montana, That's So Raven, High School Musical, Jessie, Camp Rock, and Shake It Up. Every single one of those is geared towards little girls! What is that about? Disney can't market to boys anymore? I realize that's why they bought Marvel, so instead of showing crappy Marvel shows on Disney XD, why not create a live action Marvel show geared towards kids on the regular Disney Channel? I blame whoever runs Disney today, their film productions have been drastically going down the tube for the last 5 years too. They don't even try anymore.

When the hero becomes the villian....who becames the hero?

I miss the old disneychannel too.It was perfect the way it was.I loved watching So Weird with both Fi and Annie.I used to love Jett Jackson,In A Heartbeat,Mickeymouse Club and Smart Guy.I also loved Tru Confessions.I remember the last time i saw it on Disney channel. It was like 3:00am and it came on.I watched the whole movie and they didn't play any commercials.I cherished the moment!!!!(I wonder what happened to kayla and J.B on Jett Jackson)

reply

Yeah, I love the old school disney channel. The Famous Jett Jackson and So Weird were they best. And In A Heartbeat, too. I hate their new shows now.

reply

I miss the old Disney Channel Original Movies...like Tru Confessions, and Johnny Tsunami (which was on last night for the first time since like 1999 when it first came out) and Rip Girls, and Smart House, and i really liked So Wierd and The Famous Jett Jackson

Boy Meets World was my favorite show in the whole world! they used to play it on ABC family at 11 and 11:30 and also at 3 and 3:00...but thet took away now and it's only on once at 1:30 on one of my Disney channels..

reply

OMG I love the old disney. It was called zoog disney and it was the best!!!
Late at night they used to play the old school black and white mickey mouse club, and black and white zorro. Omg that was the best.

Also:

-Famous Jett Jackson
- In a Heartbeat
- The Jersey
- So Wierd
- Smart Guy
- Sister Sister

The best movies:
Rip Girls (love it, one of the best Tv movies ever)
Johnny Tsunami
The Boogeyman
My mom has a date with a vampire
Halloween (the first one was best)
also, Halloween 2 and Halloween High
Smart House
The Luck of The Irish
A Rign of Endless Light

All the shows and movies growing up in the 1990's was the best.
Now all the do is loop the same stuff over and over.
And every month I would wait for the new movie the movies were so original and creative. Now Disney Channel sucks.

If it ain't broke don't fix it, I say.

reply

We have not had cable for about a year now and I don't miss the latest Disney offerings. I missed Vault Disney when they pulled it. I know some of the old old Disney Movies hit Hallmark, But Disney used to have some decent offering for adults and not just idiocy aimed at preteens...

reply

I miss the old Disney too. They play their current shows way too often. They're on so many times that even my mom can take a look at the episode and can say with confidence, "I've seen this episode before and I don't even watch the series!" or something like that. I miss the dramas they used to play. Like "Tru Confessions," "A Ring of Endless Light," and "The Color of Friendship." I hate how only shows geared towards little kids. What I like about shows like "Sister, Sister" and "Boy Meets World" is that they delt with real life situations. Maybe Disney wants to hide small kids from the hardships of reality. You know, keep them innocent as long as possible.

reply

[deleted]

Exactly.

I heard a rumor that Disney was doing poorly in the money department, and hired all these people to come up with new shows and DCOM's. Which suck.

The OLD DCOM's were soo much better. Crap like "High School Musical" doesen't deserve air time. Those shiithole shows deserve to be thrown in the garbage.

And yes, the new DCOM's are aimed toward today's society, which is totally screwed up. It has gay cliches, drugs, violence, and other worthless crap clogging up the younger generations' minds.

Mmmmm.. Meth

reply

I agree, they used to play really good shows and movies.

reply

They are playing "The Color Of Friendship" tomorrow Feb. 27th

I totally agree!! So weird was my favorite show when i was little, it's awesome!! And all of the old good movies don't show anymore. I always liked Disney over cartton network but now that's what Disney is turning to. And Boy Meets World was the all time best show on earth. They used to show it on abc family at 3:00pm but now it goes on at 8:00 in the morning. Disney should go back to their old ways, to me they'd get more viewers. All of there cartoons get really annoying, and all of their shows are unrealistic.

reply

I know what you mean. Disney lost a lot of its viewers when it took off the older shows. I used to watch So Wierd and Jett Jackson and my favorite movie was A Ring of Endless Light. I haven't seen that in a while. I agree with you. Disney would get a lot more viewers if they brought back the older shows...

One of my favorite shows was "The Jersey". I watched it all the time. I haven't watched Disney as much in a while. They put stupid shows on now...

Taylor: Yes, Chad, we're a go but we're not Charlie's Angels, okay?
Chad: I can dream, can't I?

reply

i say they make a new chanel were they get all the old shows from disney, cartoon network, and nick and put them together cuz' now ther're just playin' with us i mean, rugrats all grown up! if rugrats wus still on i wouldnt watch it but the younger ones cat see the good old stuff now the younger ones just see all this new crap. same with invader zim, i taught it wus a great show but they took it of cuz it wus aimed for an older aduence of 12-15. disney used to make good movies but now its al this Hannah Montana Crap, and cartoon network i stoped wathin that about a year ago but wen i wus flippin' through channels i saw sumthing called "Squarrel Boy"... enough said. they need a new channel were they bring bak all the old good stuff and get rid of all this thats so raven stuff.

it annoys me that teachers and parents complain that all teens watch is mtv.. well maybe if there were better channels out there we wouldnt watch MTV all of the time

reply

Okay. If I had my dream channel, here's what would be on it:

televison shows like
1. Smart Guy
2. Sister Sister
3. Boy Meets World
4. My So-Called Life (this one's from the mid 90's. I forget what station it was on)
5. So Weird (before Fi left)
6. The Jersey
7. Radio Free Roscoe (albeit a "The N" show, but still really good)
8. The Famous Jett Jackson
9. Bug Juice (even though it was "The Real World" on juicy juice)
10. Are You Afraid of the Dark (if you don't remember this one.... I shun you)
11. Salute Your Shorts
12. Double Dare
13. The Goosebump Series
14. My Brother and Me
15. All those Nickelodeon action game shows (GUTZ, Legends of the Hidden Temple, ect.)
16. Rocket Power!!! (leave me alone and let me indulge)
17. Even Stevens
18. Cousin Skeeter (I can't help it)

and for DCOMs:
1. Tru Confessions
2. Horse Sense (and the other one)
3. The Color of Friendship
4. Brink
5. Can of Worms (anyone remember that one?)
6. Halloweentown (all the ones except for the last one)
7. Johnny Tsunami!!!!
8. Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century (again, except for the last one)
9. P.U.N.K.S
10. Smart House
11. Rip Girls
12. Up Up and Away
13. Phantom of the Megaplex (I really loved this one)
14. Alley Cats Strike (made me get into bowling for a short period of time)
15. Stepsisters from Planet Weird
16. Miracle in Lane 2
17. Motocrossed
18. The Poof Point
19. Going to the Mat
20. Pixel Perfect

Yup, I think that about does it. As you can see, I've given this a lot of thought. I just really miss those old shows. My friends and I are always talking about how we miss the old disney and nickelodeon shows. Honestly, if they put a channel where they just showed old nick and disney I would totally pay extra for it. If you had to make a list of your dream channel, what would you have on it?

reply

Wow good list there, Plukie..
i know, everything on blows...i remember all of those cheesy Nickelodeon shows which i loved and i use to watch boy meets worls when it was on WB b/c we didn't have the disney channel yet. when we did get it, it was awesome!!! The movies now suck, like HSM and jump.

They spend all their air time and energy promoting one sucky movie after another when they should spend their time making the good movies, like the good old days. Well, nothing will ever be as good as it was. =[

reply

WOW - That list is amazing. Lately I've been feeling nostalgic and going nuts with old nick/disney shows. I've been tivo-ing Even Stevens every day on WGN and I just bought the first season of Pete and Pete and Clarissa Explains it all on dvd. I wish old Nick shows were back on like All That, Kenan and Kel, Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude, What Would You Do? and Roundhouse.

And don't even START on Disney. I used to come home in 7th and 8th grade and watch Lizzie McGuire, Even Stevens and Boy Meets World. EVERY DAY. I miss the old shows and movies like Zenon, Halloweentown, Smart House, So Weird, The Famous Jett Jackson and (dare I say) The Jersey LOL. My obsession with Shia Labeouf has recently resurfaced so I'm feeling really down about my Disney/Nick/Childhood show days. I'm 19, yet I feel so old when I complain about the new shows Disney airs. WHAT THE CRAP?! And that's exactly what it is. lol. CRAP.

I really haven't watched the Disney Channel since I was 15 or 16...but when I do stumble across it, it's such a let down. I want the old shows back!

How old are all of you guys on here? I'm just curious because I wonder if you were the same age as myself when we all watched the same shows. *sigh* Oh, life.

reply

they should make a another disney channel for old shows. the still play even stevens, lizzie mcguire, sister sister, boy meets world, ect. they should make one for the really old shows. and tru confessions is still played on disney i watched it at mid night once in like march or something idk.

reply

you know what cracks me up? You guys calling zoog disney old school disney, no no no, the mickey mouse club with britney spears, was old school disney, my sisters (older) would say the same thing about so wierd that you guys say about hannah montana, suite life, etc. When I would watch so wierd and smart guy, which was in my time, they would say how lame it is and how they miss "old school" disney channel, the kids who watch hannah montana will say the same thing in about 10 years, its a cycle, these people cater to young teens, who like these shows, you guys just dont like these shows because you have outgrown them

"We are now the knights who say---Ekki ekki ekki ekki Ptang! Zoom Boing Z'nourrwringmmm!"

reply

I miss the really old disney shows like avonlea, mickey mouse club, kids incorporated, ducktales and chip and dales rescue rangers. That was old school and those shows were good! Anyone who grew up in the 90's would remember that!!

reply

I did like Zoog Disney much better than the disney channel we have now. The shows had variety and the movies had plots and messages and (no effence) usually better actors than they do now.
