Amazing Role Model

Finally, a young woman being shown in the media whose values of intelligence, hard work, kindness, and confidence are more important than how she looks!

Women and girls in North America are constantly subjected to media images that promote a sexy, beautiful, thin woman as the thing to aspire to. Intelligent, creative, and hardworking women and girls are frequently pushed aside, and their achievements made petty in the face of fashion and beauty. More than anything, girls look up to models and actresses. What kind of message is that sending to girls who are intelligent and talented??

We need to see more people like America, and her character Ana, proving that your mind, heart, and confidence are more important than how you look.

Haven't you seen SHREK?

I'm not disagreeing with you, but what you said made me think of something.
I'm 16, almost 17, a senior in high school, and as someone who has been thinking of potential careers and listening to other girls, want to know what they say?
They want to go to universities, Ivy Leagues (no matter how overpriced) or technical schools. They want to study and major in business, biology, political science, etc. These girls work their asses off, and in no way feel confused or misled by subjects they have seen in TV or movies. I think the message of this movie is good too, but young women today are more driven than you might see.

Which then makes me wonder, and people may think I'm an idiot . . . oh whatever, they will. What happens to girls who aren't too intelligent? They struggle in school, have no obvious talents and constantly rack themselves with answers as to what will happen to them when they have to face the whole sink or swim? I know some people will think this is dumb of me to even consider, but as a girl who struggles in school to get Bs and even Cs, what do people who aren't blessed with intelligence supposed to rely on?
I feel kind of stupid for posting this, but it just made me wonder.
