Can anyone shed some light for me as to who these guys were and what they were up to in the movie? Those guys who wear green who almost assassinate that guy who got tortured by Kakihara in the hospital, what's up with them?
shareThey were the guys in Jijii's gang(I forget if Jijii was actually one of them; I think he was in the manga). Jijii had gotten Kakihara to torture Suzuki, then his men meet him in the hospital pretending to be looking for the girl who disappeared with the boss. They give him their fake information that a man with a cut-up face(Kakihara) did it, leaving Suzuki to believe that kakihara killed his own boss to take over the gang. Suzuki then agrees to pay Jijii's men to kill Kakihara.
The movie's plot is a little more convoluted since the money plot seems more as a means to bring Jijii's god-like control of events to life, rather than an end. In the Manga Jijii and his men were all disgraced Yakuza who could no longer get work, so they set these two gangs against each other to get paid for killing Kakihara's side.
Yup, Jijii was actually one of the guys. Both in the manga and movie.
I guess he saw Suzuki (the human mummy) as an easy way to make money off the mafia war between Funaki's gang and Kakihara's. Obviously, Jijii's main purpose was never to make money but to eradicate the mob.

That's what I assumed at first, but then when Kakihara gets expelled from the syndicate he's a part of, they don't make any reference to him having killed Anjo (at least IIRC). Was it because Kakihara had already uncovered that Ichi was the one who killed him?
