Surprised that this wasn't a comedy

I happened to see this movie once while flipping through channels. Although I knew that it was a conservative christian movie, it seemed to have an underlying comedic sense to it, particularly in Carlisle's reactions to the 20th (21st?) century. The most hilarious part of the movie is when he is in the theater and happens to catch some porn. I couldn't stop laughing when I saw that.

For the record, he did not "catch some porn." He was watching a movie in a non-porn theatre with women and children present in the theatre. It's amazing that someone would make the ridiculous assumption that he "caught some porn." He was simply reacting to a modern movie that was full of sinful acts. Trust me...I edited the movie.

Wow, Desert Man, that is the most ridiculous reaction that could have been posted in response. You make it sound like srj61369 is being nasty or bashing the movie. He simply stated that he thought is was comedic. What is pathetic about that? What, in that statement, is indicative of blasphemy or immorality on the part of the poster? I just really don't understand how people can react so strongly to some innocuous little comment.

and you are living proof of the hypocrisy of most christians.

Time Changer movie contained elements of Christian teaching along with science-fiction and comedy.

Unlike most movies, Time Changer was able to entertain without resorting to the steady dose of profanity, violence and sexual situations that is now found on prime-time television.

I don't see anything wrong with an occasional movie that a Christian can enjoy.

And please, spare us from your lame attacks on the alleged hypocisy of some Christians. It's mildly offensive, quite unoriginal, ignorant and boring.

You're entitled to your opinions on the movies, but as for the judgement of hypocritical Christians, leave that to God.

Bravo,

It seems the most intolerant people have shifted from being bible thumping conservative Christians. To religious intolerant agnostics and atheists. I found this movie hilarious. In fact I nearly wet myself when Carlisle told the idiots Jesus was coming and then vanished and they thought they had missed the rapture. W

The movie is supposed to be funny, the comedic elements were intended. On the making-of documentary on the DVD the guy who acts the main character was saying that he was trying to focus on the comedic aspects of the character, it’s not a downright comedy but I think it’s supposed to be funny, particularly the parts where he sees things today and gets all freaked out, I think it was intentionally funny.

If the comedic elements have to be explained in a "making-of" documentary instead of coming through in the performance, then the performance has failed. It doesn't matter whether it's the fault of the actor, director, writer or any other member of the creative staff. If the performance doesn't stand on its own merits, it fails.

The comedic elements didn't have to be explained to me. I thought they were hilarious. I think the problem here is that people have been conditioned to believe that religious ideas deserve more respect than other ideas. So when somebody says, "Remember, children, the Bible is perfect, so if science disagrees with the Bible, it must be the science which is wrong," instead of howling with laughter, some people will just fidget uncomfortably in their seats.

No.

No.

While there may be quite a few intolerant agnostics and atheists - the bible thumpers still corner the market in terms of intolerance and closemindedness. (And at least the agnostics and atheists are, on average, moderately intelligent.)

So let me get this straight Conservative Christians are intolerant and dumb. So that would make you a Conservative Christian mov88 right?
