it's supposedly based on the 3.0 V6 - assuming the production version. However, even if the car had a blower fitted, some variation on Nitro, new exhaust - and all other sorts of trickery, i'd say you ain't gonna get one sounding - or of course performing like that. for example - out running that evo.

But I agree, it's a fantastic sound!! and who cares about the practicalities and realism, it's a fantastic driving movie. better than most (perhaps any) that hollywood produces!!

It is a V6 probably as last poster said but the sound is mainly because of which material and the construction of the intake, I would guess(with my background in motorsport) that he is using a custom carbon intake, 3inch manifold, this engine is probably not Turbo fitted as it doesn't have a open exitvale(which is good for performance). There is no problem in building such a engine as long as you have money and of course are not planning to drive very far, when these much modifications are done it will upen the stress on all the mechanical parts inclyuding the driveshaft and gearbox, If anyone is building this sorta engine also consider you'll need much larger brake(I would recommend Brembo 6 piston Carbon barkes) and also upgrade suspension.

basiclly the best way to get a nice sound(and cheap) from a engine is to change airflilter(into an open one) and change the exhaust to a bigger one.
