Heat seeking rocket.

I dunno much about Heat Seeking rockets but, with all the shooting going on, the barrels of their guns would have been hot. SO when X launches the rocket shouldn't it blow-up right there with such a concentration of 'hot guns'?? dunno, does anyone have more knowledge of HSR

reply

I think so too, and I dunno does it affect but there also were lots of people, and people are warm + the guns so I guess the rocket would have exploded right away, as you already said.

reply

I believe heat-seeking rockets activate after a set time after the launch. It's a safety mechanism.

Gun barrels do not reatin enough heat to affect the path of a HS rocket. When you lock on with HS rocket you lock onto the items heat signature and it takes something hotter to distract the rocket, a fired gun would not do that.

reply

Yeah, that's the problem with this scene. An HS rocket doesn't just go looking for heat, it locks onto a heat signature so you'd still have to aim it at him.

Does history record any case in which the majority was right?

reply

The muzzle flash only creates temporary heat. The smoke's heat stays in the air longer.

reply

You mean the camcorder glued to some pvc pipe heatseeker? Haha. Stupidest looking prop ever. A heat seeker isnt detonated by heat its just guided to it. Dumbasses.

Also one of the most cringeworthy lines of dialogue ever. "Stop thinking Prague police and start thinking playstation." WTF?! Yeah pretend that this isn't real and you can restart if you die. What a complete and utter P.O.S line of dialogue. This film is terrible.

Umm... the line that Vin said - as Xander was simply an illustration of what to do. It was actually not dumb at all. If a sniper has you pinned down, and you kind of know where he is, you get your big gun(s) out. Kinda of like that Sniper in Saving Private Ryan (the American) ... though he was probably better.

Also, yes - cigs can reveal a snipers position... usually at night.

Yes the 'heat-seaking missile' was a prop. This is a MOVIE right? It even mentions the 'missile' or rocket launcher is in fact, a camera (modified), though it looks like it could be a simple type of shoulder lauched guided/or seeking missile.

I dont think Seal Team Six is gonna show off all their tools and toy.

Clearly all the guns had real bullets too!

reply

Also the fact that cigarettes arent a big enough source of heat to work the way that this scene showed.

These kinds of missile are designed to take out planes by following the heat created by engine exhaust.
