No, ATI32000 is right, at least the deleted scene I saw on the American special edition DVD, anyway.
* SPOILERS *
Yes, Xander (well, Vin's stunt double from the first film. The camera deftly manages to avoid a frontal facial shot of xXx :D) is riding in a convertible with Leila Arcieri (the black lifeguard from 'Son of the Beach'), who if you remember hit on Xander in the first movie at the party in his loft. She's very provacative and slutty this go around and all over Xander, imho.
Anyway, like rammsteinfan said, they park the car in front of Xander's apartment building. He follows a noise into an alley, only to find out he has been tricked. In the meantime, Leila's character gets the ole "snatch and grab" by the bad guys. When Xander returns, he rushes into the building and 5 or so seconds later (as others have said), the place goes boom. What the others haven't mentioned, which I find weird, is the hilarious part afterwards where a big chunk of skin from xXx's neck (the part w/ the xXx tattoo, so as to show you it's really Xander, I guess) flops down on the asphalt and said bad guy leader comes over and picks it up:
" You never did have much between the ears, Xander" (or something to this effect)
This is how I remember it anyway. I also think Rammstein's "Feuer Frei" is playing during the buildup, but I could be mistaken. I think this was filmed for the 2nd film but for whatever reason it was cut and put on the special edition DVD for xXx instead.
Now this last part is just my fantasy but I tend not to take this scene seriously, thinking it's not the real Xander. The real xXx would have rode his skateboard out of the exploding window on the wave of flames and headshotted the bad guys while yelling "Kowabunga!" or something. (Just kidding of course :D)

shareI didn't really get this special feature thing. I'm not sure if they're trying to confuse us or if its just korkey plotholes or what. This is suppost to be a special feature on the xXx 2 dvd, but in that movie at the beginning at the NSA facility Gibbons says that Xander was killed in Bora Bora. Then in the escape from the prison scene with Ice Cube jumping into the chopper, Ice Cube looks back and asks who that was in the back, and you see Xander back there unconcious as if he was shot with one of those knockout darts, and Gibbons tells him that he's a civilian contractor and that he will wake up in a few hours with a headache. Then there's this special feature that shows Xander getting blown up in his house and getting the skin ripped off the back of his head. So I don't understand if we're suppost to think Xander is dead, or if his death was all suppost to be just covered up and he's still alive.
Personally I think they put the (poorly done) special feature in there just as a joke. For one, the way it was shot was terrible, and it didn't even match up with how the first movie ended OR how the second movie started. Besides, I really don't think Xander, considering all that he pulled off in the first movie, and how he was portrayed as a rather intelligent (although half crazy) guy, would be dumb enough to fall for that crap he fell for in the special feature. I'm pretty sure Xander is still alive, and may return for a third movie if they make one, and his death was a coverup.
So they made it look like he had died in the final scene of the first movie, but miraculously he survives so that he can go live in Bora Bora with the girl, but then they actually kill him off in this dumb clip anyway in a ridiculous manner? But now hes actually still alive and coming back for the third movie? This is such a mess haha.
Im guessing that the left it open for a sequel, but Vin didnt want to do it and they had to kill him off to explain the new actor, but now he does and they have to reverse that.
It was mentioned in XXX State Of The Union that he died in Bora Bora.
