How Does IMDb choose the 'User Comment' for the front?

The first thing people see when they look at informations about this movie is "Boring". Stil. most of the people who have writen about the movie on IMDb think it is great. Why do they put minority comments on the front?

And they have changed it. Thank God for that!

And there is a bad review again on the front. :-(

yes, Mathias, when soemone calls a movie boring it means they are shallow and only watch mainstream movies. Better yet, you want them to NOT rent it at all so that the film will get even less revenue than it normally would have had we all who found it boring atleast given it a shot. Sheesh.

It IS strange that an interesting-sounding movie with quite good rating is described by one single word - boring - in a space that is supposed to tell you something about the movie and make you more interested in seeing it.

The Empire never ended.

Whenever someone writes a review, Imdb staff read it and see if it's suitable for the site (language, on topic, etc...). If it is then it's added to the list from where every day one review is chosen randomly.

Every review has the same chance of being selected. If you don't like a certain review just write one of your own. It will appear on the front page someday...

The reviews on the front page get rotated often. I've visited some titles two or three times in one day and each time there was a different review on the front page. Then again, some times the front page review doesn't change for days. I don't know if they change the front page reviews in some particular order, but given the fact that IMDb has several million reviews in its database, I'm pretty sure the staff doesn't actually decide on any given day which review will be on the front page. It doesn't even seem to matter if the front page review is the most recent. It's most likely decided via a random programming.

Hopefully, most IMDb users know enough to check at least a few comments instead of just taking the advice of whatever the front page comment happens to be!

It's usually a one that is written in favour of the particular film and has been found useful by as many fellow members.I havent come across any write-up on the front page that has torn the movie apart critising it left right and centre.
