question for those who have seen the film!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

since this is an indian film does it have the traditional bollywood song and dance numbers?

reply

No song and dance as such, but such beauty it makes your eyes water! See the "trivia" page as to the country of origin of the film.

reply

no it doesnt. you should watch it for yourself.
a bollywood film on an average may be expected to conform to your allegation but there's more to indian cinema than bollywood. owe it to yourself to check out films from the 80s decade, all those 'art films', some of the finest indian cinema u'll see. pick up any film by shyam benegal for a start.

Warrior is far from a traditional Bollywood production. It's actually very Western in its style and reminded me of several of Sergio Leone's spaghetti westerns (except from the storyline, I guess). I liked it, aparently I don't mind the Western film tradition, when it comes to it.

I personally think that there are quiet a few Indian film directors that have MUCH more to offer than what is presented by Bollywood (just the name alone URKS me to death!). Bollywood films are such a waste of celluloid; I can’t even begin to explain my distaste in them. However, there are a good number of Indian films (the so called “art films”) that will impress you in ways you never thought of. I really can’t wait to see this film, and I really hope it hits the big screen around my area, because I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m really getting annoyed with the weak films Hollywood has offered recently.

it's not a bollywood film or even an indian film...it's a british film in hindi.

In the DVD edition, the director explain about this topics.

The director studied and live in London, but he is hindi´s son.
Then, he said that this films is not the typical Bollywood film.
It is a UK film, but with a Hindi story and landscapes.

No it does not, its a fairly conventional film to tell the truth.

Lately I have seen more and more indian films that are leaving behind the classical Bollywood style. No dancing no singing, just a good story well told and sometimes wonderful photography. That's all and that's enough.

Among those movies is of course The Warrior but also Deepa Mehta's trilogy: Fire, Earth, Water; Mira Nair's Salaam Bombay!, etc.

Godd stuff is coming out from India lately albeit I couldn't believe that "The Warrior" won the BAFTA award for best british film beating "The Hours". I mean, I like "The Warrior" but it's not better than The Hours.

Thankfully it is not.
