FILMI CLUB FILM #025: The Warrior (2001) 22 Dec

So the link to the original thread for this was on the Indian Cinema Board (www.imdb.com/board/bd0000033/nest/) but the admins deleted that.

So, here are only posts that I could recover:

Has the "Warrior" thread been deleted?

I've watched the film last Sunday. But I cannot find the thread. Therefore I add my comment here.

A very fine and poetical film, not as impressive as "The Terrorist" or as emotional as "Dil Se". Feels more like an European film. All actors (including the supporting cast) very convincing. Martial arts forgettable (the less said the better), in this sense Irrfan Khan is not very convincing as The Warrior. But as a story about renouncement and renunciation this is a very good film with impressive settings.

Reminds me vaguely of Paulo Coelho's novella, The Alchemist. The only similarity is that the protagonist, in that novella and this film, undertakes a journey of self-discovery, so I'm not sure why I am reminded of that so much. There's a certain something about destiny and fate and something or the other coming full circle - as you can see I'm not having an articulate day! I liked the film but not too much. It wasnt very entertaining.
