Superman wasn't in the movie, but was mentioned frequently by the main cast members, particularly pending (at the time) marriage of Clark and Lois and the implications of his secret identity.

Man. I found the Superman subplot very confounding, as well as much of the rest of this film. This movie existed in a time warp, with '40s sensibilities and an '80s plot – yet the release date is 2002?
