Muggles at the book...?

Why were there muggles (Hermione's parents) at the book signing in Diagon Alley? I thought they didn't hang out together?

I've assumed that since their kid is still, well, a kid, and they've approved of her going to Hogwarts (where they seemingly never got to visit), I've always assumed it was a chaperone type of deal. Like, your parents can accompany you to Diagon Alley since you have no magical relatives to take you, and that way they can get a slight experience of the world. Probably just had to agree to secrecy, but of course who'd believe them? Or their memories were wiped after (by Hermione?)

That's something that's never explored, but I always assumed that the parents of muggle-born witches and wizards were allowed limited access to wizarding society and its secret gathering places. I mean for minor children, they'd have to, right?

I also assume they have some sort of secrecy spell cast on them, so they can't tell their fellow muggles anything about their kid's secret life. I have no idea if they're informed of this...
