Most annoying film of the series?

Admittedly I'm saying this as someone well over the hill but Dobbie does a 'jar jar binks' for me, but the absolute worst thing about the entire film is Ron's incessant whining and squealing. It makes one want to form an 'airplane' style line-up to smack him around. And the remarkable thing about it is in the books he's quite the opposite.

There are certainly annoying things in the film, but that doesn't mean the entire movie itself is annoying. TCOS just happens to be my favorite HP film in the series so in my opinion equating Dobby to Jar Jar Binks is absolutely ludicrous. They're polar opposites! One is a likeable and self-less character who protects the main protagonist and even saves his life. The other is a bumbling, childish idiot who's only role was to provide stupid comic relief that would only appeal to five year olds.

And while I agree that Ron may have some over-acted lines in the film, you have to remember that these child actors were growing up at a very fast rate while these first three films we're being made. So what you call "squealing" is really Rupert Grint's voice cracking which is something that he couldn't control at the time. Though you are right about Ron being a different character in the books.

I remember back when the movie came out, there was a written interview w the filmmakers saying how they tried to avoid making Dobby too "Jar-Jar". Just funny to think of how much of a stigma that was back then

Let me rephrase that for you

Of all the Potter films, this one is the weakest. The story is not that compelling, and it takes Chris Columbus FOREVER to tell it. Could have been trimmed by a good thirty minutes.
For the record I don't blame Rupert for his overacting, he was simply following the direction of Columbus. Thank God Columbus did not direct anymore of the films.

I feel he did okay with this one, and it saddened me that he never directed another HP after this one. Although POA and GOF were good, just the spirit of the movies wasn't the same after Columbus.
