Is it me, or...

Doesn't it seem like these 3 characters - that we are supposed to feel some amount of empathy for - are selfish fools that take not one iota of responsibility for their situations? [spoilers ahead] Kyra S's character is mean and nasty to people that try to help her and her possibly statutory sex act with a dopey teenage boy is supposed to be seen as EMPOWERING?!? F. Balk's character's car gets STOLEN by a kid she's trying to help (yeah, REALLY smart, her leaving the keys in the car w/ someone she barely knows!) and instead of feeling (naturally) upset or betrayed (like most real people would feel), just THEN she has an "epiphany" about her unborn child?!? Parker Posey's poor-little-rich-girl character is bored with her husband...THE HORROR...THE HORROR...

I don't watch movies expecting to "like" all the characters but I should be shown some reason to be interested in what happens to them...the characters populating CASINO and THE USUAL SUSPECTS are not people I'd care to have afternoon tea with but their stories are told in a compelling manner. "PV" drably displays self-absorbed characters in crummy situations primarily of their own making. (Well, Blalk's character tries to do the right thing, or "a" right thing.)

You said everything I was thinking and couldn't put it into words like you did.The 1st one she seemed like a "wanna get back at any guy" cougar...lol I mean I am suppose to enjoy watching her get a kid off in a truck then wipe her hand and go on her merry way. Oh that was just very enjoyable. Not! the 2nd one , seemed like she just couldn't actually be happy with anything IMO. I only wish if my only problem was my husband was boring I would be doing great. I mean at the great job she had alone. The last one I just didn't get where I was suppose to feel for the female. She seemed crazy to me. I am sorry I watched this movie out of pure curiosity and I thought it stunk and it took down some good actors with it.

It's definitely you. Both of you.

So you approve of statutory rape when it's female-on-male? Or when some spoiled lady gets "bored" with her husband, it's OK for her to cheat? I suppose if somebody stole YOUR car you'd become all introspective and philosophical and then shrug it off? GET REAL.

Since when do you need to approve of the actions of a film's characters to appreciate the film?

Exactly -well put.
"Gentlemen you can't fight in here!" "This is the war room!" Dr. Strangelove

I agree, this movie made no sense to me. The first two had no redeeming qualities and the last one was an IDIOT, but she looked way better in jeans than the first one. lol
