Ages

Does anybody know why they changed the ages of the characters when they dubbed this?

For example, does the US have any social taboo that stopped them from being that age, like fear that having them on the net so often, or out alone at night, might encourage real kids do things that get them attacked by pedophiles?

It seems kind of weird to me.

Don't quote me on this, but I recal them being 10 in Japan and 12 in the US (I know that they were two years younger, but I'm not exactly certain what the lower boundry was)

I often find that it's the other way round with US cartoons. You've got teens with problems that pre teens face, and pre-teens with problems that grade schoolers face.

Demographic. They wanted to catch a broader audience. =D

Yeah, but the 6-11 demographic which they are hitting is an artificially created demographic. The big names such as Disney, Cartoon Network and 4Kids dumbed their products down so much that nobody over this age group will watch them.

Take a look at Japan, the primary animation age demographic is much broader because the cartoons tackle a much broader are of subjects.
