Is this based on Tom Robinson?

"Bob & Rose" was based on a true story. Does anyone know if it was based on what happened to Tom Robinson? The man who wrote and sang "2-4-6-8 Motorway" and "Sing if you're glad to be gay" in the 1970s/80s did fall in love with a woman.

No it was actually based on Russell T Davis's friend who was always gay and suddenly fell for a woman, married her and had kids with her and still with her. Apparently Russell (the director who is also gay) and all tehir friends were annoyed at this and he wrote the story to deal with his own predjudice and to come to an understanding that you can fall in love with man or woman regardless of your sexuality. at least some people can.

Hi,

Tom Robinson isn't gay now though, homosexuality was just a phase he went through on the way to bisexuality! :P

... but this story is a little different, it's about a gay man who falls in love with a woman - completely, head-over-heels, totally in love with her... but he's still gay, she's the one and only exception to the rule. It's one of the things that makes this show so unusual and so interesting. :)
