Why did they cancel this show? It was an alright for australian tv so why cancel it?

Licking an electrical outlet will not turn you into a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger.
I think it's more complicated than just "bad ratings". Blue Heelers got canned because Seven spent too much money buying the AFL back and had to trim their budget somewhere so BH was it.
I suspect that it's something along those lines with this show as well. The critics loved it, but the execs thought it was too "weird".
