I LOVE the show and the manga; Trust and Betrayal was great too! But this... I had to turn it off, it just seemed... not Kenshin, if that makes sense. I really did not enjoy it much at all. Does anyone agree or am I alone in this?
Nah. I didn't care for it and, if wiki is to be believed, neither did the creator of the manga:
Watsuki said that he "checked in on the script" and was unhappy with the result; he said that "Kenshin went through so much crap and deserved a happy ending."
Having only seen it once back in '03, I remember an overall feeling of disappointment(Kenshin moping around throughout the film, the Jinchu Arc being relegated to one fight scene, the crappy ending). Like most everybody else, I can't understand why this has a similiar rating to the much superior '99 OVA.
Believe me, you're not alone! Many RK fans hate this OVA for the drek it is. The manga has a 100% happy ending, which the OVA chooses to ignore.
