This film is a copy of Reservoir Dogs

What is it with bollywood? stealing other movie's ideas? That isnt cool at all, it just proves that bollywood movies have nothing creative and plot stealers.

Other movies where they stole the story are:-

1. Black- from "The Miracle Worker"
2. Mujhse Shaadi Karogi- Merged from Meet the Parents, Anger Management, and another movie i forgot (will write the name as soon as i remember)

I dont watch a lot of indian movies, but these are some examples. If you know any more, let me know.

I think you guys are a little out of your league here.

Not only does this film say openly it is a remake of Reservoir Dogs, but you are criticising an industry that does what every industry in the world does, prepare yourselves, even Hollywood!!!

I don't know if you guys are american, but there is this whole country outside of the USA that has like 1 billion people and a humungous film industry, called India.

The remake was warranted, like some of the times that Hollywood does the same.

Just because they pointed out a few things means they are dissing it? Just because they said that doesn't mean you should talk down to them and make them sound like the stereotypical "Ignorant Americans".

reply

They are carrying on as if Bollywood is doing something evil or disgusting and as if they are out of ideas.

I simply pointed out that it is quite common practice and a warranted remake considering the size of the film industry there.

I didn't make them sound like stereotypical ignorant americans, they did that themselves.

Also, you think the heading "Bollywood SUCKS" isn't dissing it?

"Not only does this film say openly it is a remake of Reservoir Dogs"

The director of the movie doesn't. This is an extract from an interview with him.

"[Kaante] is a crime film, not a remake of any one film. Reservoir Dogs itself is a remake of a Hong Kong-based film called City On Fire."

Not only does he state that it isn't a remake of any one film, he says that Reservoir Dogs is a remake of one film. He's in denial.

And Reservoir Dogs is a "copy" of a Hong Kong film titled City of Fire.

A fair amount of the US films I've seen lately are remakes of Hong Kong, Japanese, or French films. Why does Hollywood remake these films? For the same reason Bollywood remakes these films -- most people would rather see a film in their own language, with actors they recognize, rather than some foreign film. So Hollywood does English language remakes with American actors, and Bollywood does Hindi remakes with Indian actors.

What is it with Hollywood? stealing other movie's ideas? That isnt cool at all, it just proves that Hollywood movies have nothing creative and plot stealers.

I know that it (RD) "borrows heavily from scenes in other movies" but Tarantino has admitted it. (Shortly after denying it.) But Sanjay not only says that his movie isn't remake of one film, he has to be quick to blame Tarantino. Also, saying that it isn't a remake of one film opens up for the suggestion that it's a remake of many.
I don't know, so correct me if I'm wrong, but does Reservoir Dogs feature dialog from City on Fire?

From Reservoir Dogs (1992):
"Are you gonna bark all day little doggie, or are you gonna bite?"

From Kaante (2002):
"Will you only bark or will you bite?"

It's not a copy of City Of Fire, have you even seen that movie? I think not. He uses one part of that movie, and Reservoir Dogs overall is highly original and very different from City Of Fire in general, and is now widely regarded as a modern classic. And as someone else stated, QT readily admits to the borrowing/referencing/inspiration from City of Fire. Gupta however does not. This is what he said in an interview (slightly different from above):

"First, I didn't choose Reservoir Dogs. Kaante is not inspired by Reservoir Dogs. I haven't been candid about that at all.
In fact the media has been going crazy saying Kaante is a remake of Reservoir Dogs. It is not. It is a crime film, not a remake of any one film."

That is pure BS.

And please, list all these remakes which Hollywood has copied.. Let me guess, Ring, The Grudge, Infernal Affairs, any more? Not only are they all legit remakes, but that's only a handful. Bollywood has been raping Hollywood for decades with an extensive list of out-and-out rip-offs, because they can't make good movies by themselves. When it isn't a copy (and even when it is), it's usually a boring, cheesy, corny, over-the-top, melodramatic, unrealistic, overlong, unoriginal romantic love-triangle comedy musical. And what is it with Hindi movies, why do 90% of these have to be 3-hour musicals with so many silly, camp, song and dance numbers? Seriously makes the actor look so dumb, a 40-year old, supposedly macho dude lip-synching and dancing with 30 teenage dancers in the background. Actually, I'll tell you why, otherwise the millions of dumb uneducated illiterate Indians will demand their 5 rupees back, therefore the director has to put these in if he's to make any money. The sad thing in all of this is that Asians over here in Western countries who have access to far superior quality movies, lap this tripe up and praise them to the hills. Usually I've found that they tend to have rather low-brow tastes.

Ironically, this isn't even ironic at all.

Kaante is a copy of the following hollywood movies:

Swordfish
Usual Suspects
Reservoir Dogs
Heat

and the reason why bollywood sucks is because those backward assed village idiots who have never broken away from the 3-4 hours of family fueding love and disjointed songs formula wil not watch anything else, *beep*
