I really can't think of anything in this movie that was bad. Almost everything was brilliant. Cast overlook:

Sanjay Dutt: Best role so far: BRILLIANT, CHARMING, TOUGH

Amitabh Bachchan: BRILLIANT though not his best role

Lucky Ali: Could have done better, but does it well.

Suniel Shetty: Not that good but has his moments.

Kumar Guarav: Not too good and not much in the movie overall

Mahesh Manjrekar: What a BRILLIANT way to make a debut in acting.

I noticed a few calling this movie a comedy!!!!! Are you sure you were watching Kaante???!!!! Because calling this movie a comedy, or even a in-between comedy/crime is stupid! This is the best crime movie India has made so far.
Most of the story is a ripp off from Reservoir Dogs and inspired by The Usual Suspects. But unlike other movies this movie does it perfectly.

Anyway, beside all those things, this movie is mainly kept together by only one thing: SANJAY DUTT. He does an excelent performance, and I can't think of any actor who has done it better in any role...

I saw Kaante just last night here in New Zealand....I enjoyed it a great deal, even if it was derivative of several other films....a few things which stop me having the idolatrous attitude you have of it: I found that the musical items (which were done extremely well) were an irritating diversion; the constant "stop-motion" editing was distracting (is this style common in Indian movies?); and there were some astonishingly illogical plotlines....how could ANY group of policemen be so completely unable to inflict only one wound on one of the robbers, when thousands of shots were aimed at the group of six, is a good example....this and similar plotlines led me to view the film as a "tragi-comedy", as has been mentioned by others in these discussion boards....but I was really glad to have seen it..for me, the best actor was Amitabh Bachcan

how could you say this movie was brilliant??? it was utter trash, it was lowest of scum direction in the world, Kaante is simply a terrible remake of the cult classic Reservoir dogs, its useless entertainment, you absolutely have no taste in movies.

Who the *beep* are you to say that? I might say the same about you because you didn't like Kaante... But I don't 'cause I respect your oppnion... We have diffrent views on films so accept it!

What do you mean 'NO TASTE' ?
Kaante, unlike Reservoir Dogs was untidy. In Reservoir Dogs, the guys are brought together, they are HIRED!! in this pathetic excuse for a movie, one guy's wife is dying or sometihng like that, some other guy has some other problem and so on and so forth. Their motives are so crappy!! Now, can you think of a better way to destroy Ringo Lam's brilliant story. Tarantino is a great Director. Sanjay Gupta is a turd! he shouldn't be given another chance to make a movie!!
And you certainly have ABSOLUTELY NO TASTE!! Movies are good or they aren't, it's not built upon a persons taste. You are acomplete MORON if you think Kaante was better than, or even close to Reservoir Dogs!!

I am so sorry that I forgot that you are the master of film. You know everything that there is to a film and which film is good and which one is trash. You know everything. Because you have made so many films that you can say whether people have good taste or not. You are the master of film in this universe.

With quotes like for instance this, I don't know whether to feel sorry for you or laugh at you...

Well, the movie was garbage. absolute garbage!! The indians always ruin their movies by making them all patriotic. Kaante was a remake of Reservoir Dogs! So there was no lifting involved. But the difference is that That movie was great, and this was not! Because Tarantino is a genius, and this guy is a moron.

Good thing I watched "Reservoir Dogs" before "Kaante". "Kaante" was trash while "Reservoir dogs" was a genius movie. What irritates me is that in "Kaante" most of the men are shown as good guys, they are nice and patriotic (really really Pathetic!!) and had no choice but to rob the bank. While in "Reservoir Dogs" the robbers are mean and selfish and have very interesting personalities. Sanjay Gupta sucks!!

copying the usual suspects and reseviour dogs, come on atleast try and make it less obvious

kaante is crap compared to reservoir dogs, It's like comparing a penny to a pound.
