Hilary is Horrible

shareI think Hilary played her part well. Gary Cole also did a good job as General Maxwell, and Shawn Ashmore wasn't bad as Major Rigby. The only bad acting was that of Christy Carlson Romano as the movie's villain (so to speak), Captain Stone. I don't view Christy as suitable for villain roles, nor do I view her as capable of playing villains (or anything even remotely resembling them, for that matter) -- at least not very well. I think they gave her the wrong part.
Also, if you knew how Christy felt about having to be mean to Hilary (not counting the benefits or how it all turned out in the end), you might feel a little bit sorry for her. I know I do, for the following reasons:
1) I think she and Hilary deserve better.
2) I don't want to encourage any further adversary relationships between them, even if it is just acting, as I greatly respect their friendship.
3) I don't want to encourage Christy to play more villains or anything even remotely resembling them (see above).
It would seem that there are different things that make different celebrities charming. With Alec Baldwin and Cary Elwes, their charm seems to come from their voices. With Christy Carlson Romano...good looks...a good personality...I think it takes both of those put together to make her charming. The way I look at it, when the producers gave Christy the part that they did, they took away her charm.
Also, just because Tim Curry likes playing villains doesn't mean all the famous people like it. I mean, Alfred Molina likes playing villains, as does Cary Elwes, and Christopher Lloyd can't get enough of his villain Hacker in the PBS Kids cartoon show "Cyberchase," but to me it doesn't seem likely that Christy Carlson Romano would be the type to want to play villains. Or she might have more fun playing good characters than evil ones, I don't know. Either way, I think she makes a terrible villain.
I think it's time Hilary and Christy did another movie together, preferably one where their characters are equals and are nice to each other.
For the record, I like Christy in "Even Stevens," "Kim Possible," "Campus Confidential," and "The Cutting Edge 2: Going for the Gold." I also like her in that one episode of "Summerland." I just don't like her in "Cadet Kelly."
