The Ending *spoilers*
Hi. I was reading the past posts, and I don't think they have really answered the question I have. I'm Chinese. I speak Cantonse, yet for the life of me, I still feel as if it's a plot hole. So any help here would be appreciated, to shed some light on the topic.
I don't really understand the ending, where Nicholas (Chiu) was in a coma but he was having an out-of-body experience and fighting Stephen (Fung). Then while this was happening, Danielle was trying to revive his body with electro . . . something. Then I know Nicholas sheds a tear, which is supposed to symbolized regeneration (hope) and I guess, by extension, reincarnation. But then I think, his heart stops. And his ghostly body is spewing out light/electricity in the fight scene with Stephen. Then without any explanation, he's alive again holding Danielle's hand, saying that from now on, it's going to be two "living" partners, because he says so. Is it supposed to be a nod to how humans hold their life and destiny in their own hands? But then, I think that's where the plot hole appears. Must we disregard all the other information about how he is destined for a solitary life that we were made to believe is true?
Or is it because he has been revived, that all previous rules that applied to his life before , don't apply anymore?
Thanks.
