What's the chant in the 'Les Soldats' song?

OK. The chant in 'Les Soldats'.
I heard it in several different versions in several different places.
I don't know the name/origin/meaning/whatnot of it.
And it's driving me crazy.
If anyone could help me in identifying it I would be immensely grateful.

Here's a list of different tracks I know it appears on:

Anime:
*Noir OST1 - 'Les Soldats' - large portion, forms the base for track (+of course 'Les Soldats II' on the second soundtrack)
*Texhnolyze - ??? (i.e. in Rogue 13, scene with Ran and her bodyguards at the end) - slight variation

Games
*Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen II - 'The Sarafan Lord' - small snippet, around 1:24 and 1:45
*Shadow Hearts II - 'Rasputin'and 'Evil Gate Opener I'- small snippet throughout both tracks
*Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption - small snippets in several tracks, i.e. menu music

Other Albums:
*Yello 'Pocket Universe' - 'Monolith' - large portion, base for track

I also recall having heard it in several movies, but don't remember where and when ;).

Sorry mate but I dont think you are going to find that here. Maybe you were looking in thw rong place for the right lyrics. I too am looking for them and have had no luck.

Sure finding lyrics like Canta Per Me were all "hunky dory" but Les soldats was a bit tricky.

I guess if you could find an acurate translation for the Gragorian chants in Escaflowne it might have the same source for this song.

P. S "Hunky Dory" is aussie bush slang for All is well.

I'm not sure what you mean...

Anyway, it seems that the chant is Russian Orthodox liturgic music. I'm listening to heaps of that stuff right now, and it sounds really similar. I haven't come across this particular piece though yet.

OF course you would not come across this piece. Yuki Kajikura writes and composes all of her music. Russia is a bit east for the central story though in noir. But it does seem more probable then some other eastern european countries which it more likley represents.

I think to find out trans;ations and origin yo would have to strike gold by either searching for background info on the Noir OST's or more probable see if the lyrics can be translated online?
