Absurdly funny

If there ever was an under-rated tv show, it would be this. Why the *beep* was there only one series? I never caught it the first time round, but I'd guess that Channel Four, presumably having no clue how to utilise Iannucci scheduled it retty harshly.

The "Hello Hugh!" sketches are genius. Also, having watched this recently, it's nice to see that some of the actors are turning up in other things (e.g. Green Wing).

Surely it's not just me?

Yeah, it was a fantastic series. Like the "Knife attack reunion" sketch:

Man: "D'you remember me??"
Woman: "Oh yes, you gave me this scar! How are you these days?
*Man lunges at her with plastic knife*
Man: "Only joking! Had you going then, didn't I?"

Those definitely aren't the right lines, but that's the gist of it. :)

I completely agree. I loved this when it first came out and managed to record four episodes during the repeats last year.

It's honest to God some of the most intelligent, genius comedy I've ever seen. I tell people about it every opportunity - they all love The Day Today and I'm Alan Partridge but take away Morris/Coogan and they don't seem interested. Fascists.

Brilliant brilliant brilliant. It seems like any comedy not on Friday night on Channel 4 (Darkplace anyone?) seems to get relegated to obscurity whilst low-level "humour" such as Bo Selecta flourishes. It makes me mad.

That crap like Garth Marenghi's Dark Place and Green Wing get all the plaudits while this, 15 Storeys High and the sublime How Do You Want Me? are verging on the forgotten speaks volumes.

Green Wing rocks, but this is better. Love the landfill sketch, with all the men with their hands nailed to various pieces of flat-pack furniture :D

Darkplace is hilarious.

I agree that Bo! Selecta is a pile of *beep* Leigh Francis is just NOT funny.

Armando can do no wrong in my book.

One of the reasons this never got much attention is that it was aired around 9/11 so was obviously over-shadowed by that. The reviews it did get were apparently awful.

I agree that this is extremely sophisicated and intelligent comedy. I've watched all 8 episodes on the dvd and while some of it was spot on, a lot of it is so bizzare I reckon it needs 2 or 3 viewings to fully appreciate.

By the way Bo Selecta is amazing.

i rented the series - i remember watching it back in the day and loving it, and it's still fab 5 years on!
