I never saw the bit of the original continum where they find out the truth about Shinzo, could somebody enlighten me?

Was there a Shinzo, did any humans survive in it, what exactly was it in the end, etc?

if i remember shinzo was actually destroyed but then the time-lines got changed and it didn't get destroyed.. just read the article, it makes it a whole lot clearer.
