These ugly huge feet

Anybody knows why the human characters have these ugly big feet?
It was like Popeye the sailor.

It was just the style of animation based on Tezuka's drawings. And given the heavy influence that American animation had of him it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to think that the feet were based on Popeye.

Tezuka (the original creator), looked at American cartoons for insperation, especially Max Fleischer's who created Popeye and Betty Boop.

I noticed big blocky feet in the 1927 version

This is Miami Pal, but lately its starting to look a lot like Disney Land!

It was like Popeye the sailor.

That's intentional. The film is based on Tezuka's story and character designs and Tezuka was highly influenced by the Max Fleisher (Popeye, Betty Boop) cartoons of the 1930s.
