What Does the Ziggeraut Actually Do,,,

I know it makes robots go hostile and creates electro magnetic waves and radiation from the sun... but that seems so useless. Does it control the robots somehow, or does it use the Sun as some sort of weapon?

Also, What was Duke Red's original plan for this machine? I know he wanted to take over the world with it, but how?

The Ziggeraut was supposed to be a weapon that would activate sunspots, which in turn would make radiation the ultimate weapon. A side effect would have the robots go out of control. Tima was supposed to rule with an iron fist and take control of the world, everyone being at the Ziggeraut's mercy.

Things went wrong when Tima's emotions and memories went away, she turned into a robot and decided that all humans are inferior and that she has to kill them all, with help from controlling the robots and killing all human life on Earth.

She went wrong when the bullet hit her heart.

And the Glorious Leader put a very advanced robot, which is highly susceptible to the sunspot radiation, in charge of the Ziggeraut sunspot device?

Does this seem a tad idiotic to you too?

Breakdown in concept flaw for at-a-glance comprehension.
ZIGGERAUT = Makes sunspots, very high above ground, makes robots go out of control.
TIMA (Advanced humanoid robot) = Put in charge of ZIGGERAUT, unleashes sunspots, goes out of control, makes all the robots go out of control.

METROPOLIS = Made out of wood
ZIGGERAUT = Unleashes fire
TIMA = Napalm

Derp derp derp.

They kept saying she was "special", why did you think that was? For lulz?

FFS people, synthetic organs and all, the doctor explained it why she was different too. She couldn't be affected like an average robot. That's why she was built.

Our nuclear weapons, drones to the internet is run through computers. It isn't too far fetched that the people in a society with advanced robots though they could create a perfect robot through which they can forever control a super-weapon. Robots don't age, people do. A super robot could control that weapon even after the glorious leader died, preserving his legacy forever.

That's why he put her (his "daughter") in charge. She and that weapon was his legacy.

The Ziggeraut causes sunspots which increases the amount of radiation coming to earth. In the original manga, Tima's character activated only because of the extreme level of radiation. In this film, all robots are affected and seem to disregard the rules imprinted in their data and to follow their true feelings. (Yes robots do feel) Duke Red's original plan was probably to use the robot population in each country for destruction, essentially causing the robots in the specific countries to revolt and overthrow the government (the robots would be controlled by Tima since she is a robot)
