Just because something is visually stunning, doesn't make it good. I have to say its a impressive piece of visual art, but thats it. Characters were so boring and the story wasn't captivating enough, only scratching the surface of its full potential. So, boring...

While you are correct, Metropolis uses it's visual cues and approaches for far more than eye candy. I know this topic is old and the OP probably won't read this, but this movie is not boring whatsoever and has levels of depth most films don't.
