Lame

I checked that cover in the shop, and was like "woah, looks like a surfing moving with a story". So i hire it, and then watched and was disapointed how un-real it is.

I thought to myself, the guy who wrote the script has probably never been in a surfing community before. The movie was also really predictable, and i noted lots of mistakes. Like they check the sea, and its flat, but as soon as they in the water, the waves are cooking. And that is like everytime they go to surf.

hey whiteninja,
I worked on this movie and I just wanted to give you a few responses to the mistakes you noted:
Regarding the script, Ron Moler wrote and directed it, he did grow up in a surf community and does surf..real nice guy too..this movie was his for a long time and he tried to get it made on his on dime.
Thus a lot of the flat spells followed by the sudden swells was because on some days there was surf and some days there was not. This movie was made on a nothing budget, and we didnt have the luxury of re-shooting when the surf came up or when it was foggy or when the stars were sick.... So some days I think that we shot what we could, and hoped it could look good...I have worked on over 40 Major (budget) motion pics and everyone who worked on this took a huge pay cut...the payoff was we got to surf. So I had no interest in how it was finished.. when I saw it , I was like, this turned out really well and it was fun to work on..a good family film..
I just hoped there was more surfing in it....
Peace

What about when they're looking over the surf in Mexico and then it cuts to completely flat ocean which as no surf.

Hey, since you worked on the movie maybe you can help me. I realize there is no official soundtrack but I was wondering where the guitar work came from. Specifically during Harmon and Sumpters ride in the woody. Also the piece played in the background while Willy solo surfs mexico. There is some great music in this movie and if you could point me to a list or something I'd appreciate it.
Thanks

The guitar song laid over the Mexico surfing scene was "Misirlou" by Dick Dale. It was also used in "Pulp Fiction."

Interesting. Ron Moler did NOT write this movie. My cousin, Doug Bradley, and his writing partner, wrote this script and won an award for it. Later it was directed by Moler, who was also one of several producers for the movie.

Incidentally, Doug and his brother have been surfers for about 30 years. Writers do not generally have any control over environment, production, or direction.

dixiewriter- my bad... I thought it was Ron's story. This was one of the best movies I've worked on.. Just because of the crew.
