Dear Member,

GUERREROS should be required watching for military units going on peacekeeping or humanitarian missions. The movie gives no answers. But it ask a lot of questions that should be asked by those units. As a well known military quote goes: You take the last step before you take the first step. And those non-government groups pushing for action in Sudan's Dafur should also watch this movie.

The interesting point that's left out of the summaries I've seen here so far is that while the movie centers around a Spanish unit, its a joint French-Spanish expedition that journeys through the tense country. That the French commander is so intent on exercising international law upon encountering the faction they find, while the Spanish commander is more pragmatic & realizes they're far too outnumbered to be sanely doing this further illustrates the unfortunate role of being a neutral 'peacekeeper': when your own country so lightly polices the territory yet expects your authority under international law to be respected by the warring parties, the outcome is bound to be unfortunate for those on the ground.

Again, great movie!
