vincent gallo talk show host
this wasn't a very good movie. i think this was one of the many movies gallo did just for money to fund his own movies as a director. (brown bunny IS a good film). there were a couple funny parts like the part where he argues with the prostitute "i'm gonna PAY you to shut up" and the whole scene where he argues with cox outside her apartment window" but there many scenes and characters that were poorly written and i can forgive most of the implausibilities of the film cause it's just a silly romantic comedy. the one implausibility i can't get over is vincent gallo being able to be a late night talk show host.
no television station, except for something like hbo, would give that kind of job to someone who looked and acted like vincent gallo. his show in the movie is clearly supposed to be like a show carson, letterman, leno or o'brien would do. late night talk show hosts have to be nonthreatening and warm and friendly. now i and a lot of other people think vincent gallo is an attractive man but a lot of people also think willem dafoe is attractive as well. that doesn't change the fact the majority of square americans think both of those men are "scary looking". now i don't think that gallo is bad in the film, he can be good in bad films (freeway 2 anyone?) but he doesn't seem all that committed to the idea of his role.
