Judy Davis talks a little about 'Dark Blood'

Judy Davis briefly gives her opinion on the release of "Dark Blood":

It seems she did not enjoy the experience of making the film and getting the partially completed film released two decades later.

Its that man again!!

reply

Wow, she seems like a real sourpuss.

Well, I did watch "Dark Blood" and despite the four or five missing scenes you do get the feeling of a real movie. Davis seems very arrogant and disrespectful towards the memory of River Phoenix by dismissing the interest in his final film as an oddity. Maybe she hates the fact that people care more about him than her.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. Nasty bitch she is !

It must really suck to work on a film until near completion and have it scrapped because one of the leads overdosed. I mean she should be thrilled it was finally put together for people to see but I guess she also knows that the actors may not come across to well in a film glued together. She just sounds like she wasn't very fond of the director to me. Maybe she's also a bit tired of guys bringing up River like Dave Grohl is tired of guys always bringing up Cobain. I mean that's like a lifetime ago.

I thought the movie was pretty good. I liked the rawness of it but unfortunately it was missing the most intimate scenes between Julie and River that would have really helped the story. It was still better than I thought it would be.

George Sluizer said in several interviews she was the most complicated actress he ever worked in his career, and that she was really nasty to River, who was a big fan of her. One of the reasons River wanted to work in the film was so he could work with her apparently.

reply

Thank you that's what I have always read about her as well
FYI-I included it on my list of unreleased movies (my first blog post)

as a fan of RP I have avoided her movies/interviews like the plague

Jonathan Pryce clearly implied that he hated working with her in Dark Blood, also on Guardian.

Bet she has no remorse about how she treated him; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-wVWJI-8bc
Director George Sluizer; "The only time I suffered through an actress. I've never had a problem with any actor before but she made up for 30/40 years of my career"...
River said "Can I play this scene [the love scene] on the last day because I don't feel like doing it half way or touching her....I'm getting goose pimples if I have to touch her arm"....
and his friend Bill Richert says: " River was so sensitive and he hadn't experienced people not being kind to him on such a level.".....
Very damning!!!!

I saw her, Jonathan Pryce & Alan Bates at the London Film Festival when they were premiering(?) Silent Tongue a couple of months after his death.

If I'd have known how she treated him, I would have hit her.

After I found out how nasty and awful she treated River, I vowed to never watch any of her movies. She treated him terribly then and she still refuses to accept responsibility for what a horror of a human being she is. People have said that he went out drinking and overdosed on his last night after being sober for a period, as to cope with a very bad conf orientation River had with her earlier that day. RIP River.
