Whats this like?
I have been interested in seeing this movie for awhile. I was just wondering what it was like? IS it like City of God or Tsotsi? Or diffrent?

i've not seen tsotsi, though i would like to.
City Of God is immense, and better than Carandiru in my opinion, yet Carandiru is still a great film.
the comparisons i would draw between the two films are its social realism and its documentary-style cinematography, whcih go hand in hand really.
the social realism aspect of it aims to get the viewer on the side of the prisoners, as you see each of their stories and associate with them
overall, it is a good film, if not a little one-sided (look at the facts though - 111 prisoners dead, 0 police dead)
