why isn't this Kiddie porn?

Not a bad movie. I enjoyed it.

but if Michael Jackson is in trouble for messing with little kids, then why is this movie allowed? Why does Blockbuster even carry it? There is a very graphic scene where a whore teaches a pre-teen boy how to fondle her breasts. And not just touch them, but fully grasp them. She even says "that feels good" implying she is getting sexual gratification out of the touch. Then, when the boy is talking to his mom on the phone, she is pulling up his shirt. The next morning when he wakes up, the lady is fully nude. So, we get full on tit touching, and some sort of implied sexual liason.....why isn't this illegal? I liked the scene. Hell, I wish I was that kid.....

but is there some sort of double standard here?

reply

You are right on that one. And it is not a matter of double standard, only a different country. Living in europe made me understand some huge cultural differences. In Spain, that is just a lucky kid everybody wants to be, and nobody thinks about that being legal or illegal because nobody cares, nudes and a sexual scene as "light" as this one is very little to start any legal prosecution. Actually I do not know Spain's law about this, but even if it is illegal, nobody seems to care. However, child pornography is severely punished here, recently the police sent to jail to an entire international network with Spain among the countries. It is not that they don't care, they just see as porn something much more harder than that scene in the movie.
By the way, I recently was at the Tabernas desert in Almeria, and amazingly, everything looks exactly like in the movie. What a dry place. The town with the western shows is still working and not only the one in the movie, there is at least another two.

This scene reminded me of the scene with Laura Dern in Rambling Rose. That was an American film and it may not have had the nudity level, but it was more erotic and definitely shocking due to the kids age.

Of course, I would have given anything to be that kid.

I have watched this movie a few weeks ago and i remembered that 2-3 years ago i have seen another spanish movie with some simillar scenes. There was also a kid whose father hired somekind of a housekeeper or nany. His father had a relationship with her.The kid saw them one time when they were making love and in a night asked the nany if he could touch her breasts. At first she said no but after that she agreed. And the kid also touched other parts of her body. That scene was more intense than this one.Does anybody know what was the name of that movie because i can't remember the name.

Maybe you mean "La Teta y la luna" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111403/). There is a lot of Spanish movies with similar scenes. I'm Spanish, and we're not depraved, it's simply another kind of culture. Of course this things don't happen in the real life, but it's not odd to see scenes like that.

They usually symbolizes innocence, finding, maturation... Also, you almost always will see this scenes in rural ambients, where values are shared and the sense of comunity is very strong (usuaylly in harder past times). You often can see this scenes like humorous too.

In respect of Almeria, I'm proud to say that is the cradle of Western. Clint Eastwood started there his long bejewelled way, and the film it's almost a eulogy to his person.

I wish like to know if he was offered to appear in the movie. In Spain, the original actor did the dubbing, so it was quite real. I don't know if Clint did the same.

Bye ;)

In first place, the latin people have a diferent relatinship with the sex scenes.
In particular I feel that the saxon culture have a very special fear with the sex with kids. A lot of little daily thing are about this topic.
I donĀ“t know why this is so..... maybe ... they have a sick mind..(! ?!?).

And remember THIS IS A MOVIE..!!!, and M. Jackson is a real man...(well almost)

what about get out your handkerchiefs a boy sleeps next to his teacher and pulls down her top to expose her nipple whilst she slept and
the wost scene was when the teacher took off all her clothes in front of the boy

reply

Although, she was naked in the morning I didn't think that the scene implied a sexual liason. This kid was too young and too immature to finish the job or really even to start it. I saw the scene as something like teasing and life teaching, more playful fun than sexual.

The phrase kiddie porn brings about negative connatations that are criminal and this scene doesn't come anywhere near that.

The way I see it, is that we weren't retreating, we were just attacking in a new direction.

Well said.

I may just be an American with an open mind, but the scene was just cute to me. Nudity is natural, people.

That scene reminded me of a scene in another movie (Piso Pisello) where the boy wakes up with his clothes on next to
a nude woman and it turns out the woman is pregnant (which means she and the boy did have sex). This is the
exact same case in '800 Balas', except the woman did not get pregnant (that we know of).
Therefore, I think that, just like in 'Piso Pisello', in '800 Balas', the boy was shown with his clothes on just for censorship reasons, but the sex did happen.

Dude just shut up and enjoy the tits!

I knew from the first moment I saw this scene the American audience would be offended and deepley shocked. It is a cultural thing. In Europe - and I guess in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Japan too - they deal with sexuality in a different, non-puritan way.

However, I LOVED this scene. It reminded me of myself when I was about Carlos age.

you yanks need to blow some *beep* steam and stop being so touchy about everything. According to the ridiculous standars imposed by the fascist MPAA, violence is cool, sex is not. Go figure.

Pain is weakness leaving the body.
