Dick Watson

Does anybody know who is Dick Watson? Natalia Verbeke's character say that name to Ricardo Darin's one as an example of somebody great. With among others Albert Einstein.

someone told me he's a porn star, which makes sense in the context of the movie. i don't know firsthand though.

Dick watson is a false porn star, after the credits its show another scene where Rafael (darin) and his friend (eduardo Blanco) are watching a porn movie, its like a joke, becouse in the movie calls "sexo sentido" , like "sexto sentido"...and also say "veo gente desnuda" imitating the famous frase in that movie.

google shows me the following link: http://www.near1.com/HALL-OF-FAME/2003/Dick_Watson.htm

I believe the dick watson mentioned in the movie is this famous track racer...

reply

Call me negative, but I doubt its a little-known north american track racer somehow.

I hadn't seen the thing about the "sexo sentido" after the credits, but if it's there then that explains the mistery. This also makes it doubly funny as all through the film you're led to believe that he's referred to on account of his looks.

I always thought that he didn't exist, that he was just a fictional character that represents a different idealised view of a perfect partner held by each one of us.

This is one of those movies requiring you to sit through thte credits. And as someone else said, you will discover that Dick Watson is a faux porn star known for a large endowment, as quoted in the movie, "almost the size of a baby's leg." It's a rather funny scene.

reply

That is correct, they're refering to a fictitious porn star that's revealed midway through the end credits while Rafael and Juan Carlos (I think?) are watching the movie. The movie cover is sitting on top of the TV.

It's not a track star and it's not Bill Clinton.

reply

The answer to this question is a reward for those who sit through the credits. As others have said, midway through the credits it is revealed that Dick Watson is a porn star (fictitious, it seems), who has the right first name!

The last words in this extra scene are the funniest in the film. After marvelling at the size of Dick Watson's manhood, Juan Carlos asks Rafa "Want a peanut", and Rafa, obviously realising what Nati meant when she said "You're no Dick Watson", replies "No, I've already got one."

reply

Yes, I picked up on that. "Want a peanut?" "No I've already got one" in response to his girlfriend having pointed out that he was not Einstein, Bill Gates or Dick Watson.

An IMDB search comes up with a real Dick Watson, camera operator, that we can add to the track star and the other one. Oh well.

All in all, one the most hilarious-but-subtle jokes I've ever seen. Good movie.
