BOO!

Any gay person who sees this film is a dumbass. Would they ever make a film about using psychology to turn straights gay? (Oh wait, that's what gays try to do ALL THE TIME with sitcoms like Will & Grace--the horror!)

Until gays stop hating themselves as much as homophobic straight people hate them, stupid concepts such as this will exist. STOP THE INSANITY. There is nothing whatsoever wrong with being gay,or bi, or even straight--love yourself just a little bit more. (And remember, it's not gays who make some gays lives miserable, it's straight people who do that!)

I want to see a film where black people are changed into white people. There's about the same success rate there, as with this loathesome idea.

This movie had plenty of good points. It's a tough life being gay in a straight society. It would make thing ten times easier to take a pill and suddenly be straight.

It has almost nothing to do with whether a person loves themself already. It's about making life a little bit easier.

If you could take a magic pill and never have to do laundry again, why wouldn't you take it? It really wouldn't change how you feel about yourself, but your life would be easier.

As for the film, I never saw the doctor try to tell Frank that being gay would be a better moral choice. Instead, he was trying to get at the root of his clients' problems who came to him because they were unhappy being gay.

At one point, he even said he'd prefer that his clients remain gay if they were really happy that way. His experience with his brother drove him to want to help gays who were unhappy try to find a path that would make them happy.

You saw how displeased he was when Frank mentioned that he had an affair with a woman "just because".

Sure he did, several times in fact. At one point he brought up a client who loved hid dog and wanted to marry him as if that was a "valid" comparison to gay love! He made other veiled threats AND keep in mind he understood very quickly that he was the "object" of a reporter article and I'm sure that soften his approach.

I completely disagree with you about that pill. I think if you asked a person of African descent if they would take a pill that would turn them completely "white" they would be highly and rightfully insulted! Sure it might make life easier for them but it would also alienate them from family, friends and community, just like the straight pill would.

Only a person with a great deal of self hate would even consider such a thing.

You need to seek some professional help and try not to find a idiot like D. Apsey.

As far as the example of his brother not wanting to be gay, THAT SUFFERING ALTHOUGH MANIFESTED AS AN INTERNAL OCCURRENCE WAS CAUSED BY EXTERNAL PREJUDICE. There are two correct way to address that (if you can get to that person before they kill themselves) help them to understand and love themselves AND teach them to accept who they are within the world we live in. People who try to change sexual orientation are harmed emotionally, that is why ever reputable psychological association is against any form of repairative or conversion therapy. It is very similar to attempt to change people handedness. When teachers (or as in the past the churches) attempted to force someone who was naturally left handed to be right handed they caused speech impediments and other neurological impairments. It was later discovered that the brains of left handed people are different then right handed and to force change adversely affect the brain. I suspect the exact same is true of sexual orientation!
