they were both killed. she was shot accidentally. the cop was killed by tom when she was shot. tom mailed the tapes to the police. finally, tom ended up with the sugar daddy in France he mentioned earlier.

The cop tortures and kills Max back in London then goes to the cottage.
The cop makes Tom perform oral sex on him but Tom bites his penis. She accidentally shoots herself by trying to maneuver the cop's pistol with her hands tied behind her back. The gunshot startles the cop and Tom knocks him over the head with a log and presumably kills him.
Tom is shown in a paneled living room with expensive traditional furnishings and a handsome older man comes home, says "Tom, I'm back" with a slight French accent and they lovingly embrace. The upholstered furniture is french. Tom looks directly into the camera at the end and is obviously very happy.
