Response from the ABC to complaint about axing

As soon as I heard about the show being axed I used the ABC's online feedback form (http://www.abc.net.au/contact/) to complain about them pulling such a popular show. Three weeks later I received the following reply, (thought others might be interested in what they had to say)

"Thank you for your email regarding The Glass House.

After more than five years, 218 episodes and much consideration, ABC Television has made the decision not to commission The Glass House in 2007. We believe that the program has done what ABC does best - bringing new talent to the screen and giving them the opportunity to create and deliver cutting edge topical satire.

The ABC is proud of the outstanding job The Glass House team has done over the past five years. However, we feel it is time to develop new programs and explore other opportunities within the genre.

The ABC has several new comedy shows in development and others commencing production and we hope that you will enjoy these programs as much as you have enjoyed The Glass House.

We would like to assure you that the ABC will maintain its commitment to bringing its audience the best in new and fresh satirical comedy. Your support for The Glass House is valued and your comments have been brought to the attention of ABC Television.

Yours sincerely

Matthew Galvin
ABC Audience and Consumer Affairs"

Same bunch of BS that they're feeding the media, but there you go.

Well, the ABC can't really admit the show was cancelled because of pressure from the Liberal Party.

That's where the funding comes from and it seems they aren't about to be voted out anytime soon.

Why else would a high rating show with a loyal following get the axe?

how about we all vote against the current government at the next election in hopes that the show will return to air?

that would be a great campaign slogan for beaszley wouldn't it
VOTE FOR ME AND THE GLASS HOUSE WILL BE BAKC ON THE AIR BY THE NEXT WEDNESDAY
i have to say it would make me vote lol

although i doubt even kim would be that stupid
he is a great target for jokes of wil and the crew

hmm

does anyone remember a similar abc show that was aired many years ago
good news week
they were produced by the same people and had basically the same idea
to make jokes about anything that was happening in the news

it was cancelled to
the glass house was a sort of replacement, a similar show that was aired once GNW was cancelled
im not sure about the reasoning behind it
BUT
it seems to me that the abc cannot hide the fact that the government is pressuring it
when all shows about political satire are being reemoved from the air

reply

Yeah, because there are so many right-wing comedians in this country. There's Austen Tayshus and... Er... Um...

Hmmmm...

Maybe the Libs should pressure the ABC to start carrying Dennis Miller's show from Fox News!
