'The Pot' Music Video

I saw on wikipedia that it was hinted that Tool was working on a video for The Pot over the holidays. Now this could be false info, but seeing as they had to back out in the middle of making the Vicarious video, I don't know how much they'll *beep* around with this one. So has anybody heard anything, or can anybody else confirm this from maby a different source?

reply

The Vicarious Video clip was done by a different programming team and not by Adam, so its not really Adam's or Tool's fault that the clip is taking so long (I've heard that in a recent Interview with Adam and MJK).
The Pot was indeed planned as the second Single release according to an Interview with Danny in Visions Magazine and a video should be underway.

Good news all around. Well, it's almost July and I've not seen/heard any more. Anyone have updates? Can't wait to see both!

The vicarious video is being finnished my CG team that is friends with adam. THey are working on it in their free time so its taking a awile. There is a second video that adam is working on in his free time, he has said it will be all stop motion in the style of earlier tool videos. Not sure what song it will be Im guessing the pot but hoping for jambi. I dont much like the pot.

Sounds cool, any updates so far or details you wanna share with us?

I'm happy to see Tool do any video, The Pot, Vicarious, Jambi....whatever they feel like doing is fine by me. That said, what I would really like to see is a live video of the band performing. I think their cds only give a tiny glimpse of how fabulous this band is. Even if all they did was to videotape a song from one of their concerts, that would be so wonderful, better than any animation--though the animation is superb. I'm thinking of 10,000 Days (Wings part 2) as a video release. This song is so much more powerful in their live performance than the cd version. I think it would give the uninitiated a new respect for them. I wonder if there is any chance of this or if there is any chance of a full concert dvd of this latest tour. Anyone have any ideas?

reply

A live DVD is nowhere near, the band once stated interest in creating one and even startet filming some shows, but they didn't like the result so they scrapped the idea.
Same thing for a full lenght movie (also planned) - I am not looking forward to get both in the next three to five years.

That totally sucks. What are they waiting for? They're not getting any younger. They need to make a record of their brillance for ours and subsequent generations. I understand that they may want it to be really good, I do too but I'm thinking they may want perfection, which of course, will always elude.

I wish they would get their act together and start producing more, more new music, make movies, live performance dvds.... I don't know that I've seen such a gifted band in their prime be so slow to produce output.

We'll probably see some more from them soon I would assume. Their tour ends within the next few weeks I think. Hopefully after a week or two off, Adam will focus on working on the video. God willing, Maynard will work on the Puscifer music too. Just my opinion.

I'm always happy to see them do something but would be even more happy if it was more Tool and less side projects. I'm sure it's not easy making a Tool cd as they are so complex and thoughtful but they are always by far the best and just wish they would concentrate on that aspect of their talent.

Regarding their videos, my question is, Why don't they make a live concert video? Sure, their animation videos are excellent and wonderful but, imho, mix it up a little. I would love to see them put out a video of Any of the songs they did when I saw them on this tour--just a live clip from the show. If they can't get it together to put out an entire show because it wasn't perfect enough, surely they did one song perfect enough to release as a video?! How hard could that be? Had they chosen to do that, it could have already been out, not waiting for Adam to work on anything.

I just would like to see more of Tool and wish they would like for us to also.

I think erveryone wants more Tool in less time, but I don't think they will do that, especially since everyone in the band is working on at least one side project.
I don't know their vision of a live DVD but it must be somethink extremely over the top and visually extraordinary, since they refuse to be filmed regularly on TV or elsewhere.
