Canceled?

When a company pulls the plug on an MMORPG, what happens to it? Do they just stop making updates and support for it with no monthly fee? Or do they just completely shut down the servers? And what about the games in the market? Are those just completely taken off shelves?

Oh my god, I miss the old days of this game. When every bench was full...every medical center had patients...the starports were like grand central station...the few Jedis would sit in corners meditating as everyone examined them...waiting in line to get buffed.

Now it's just ghost towns and about 100 plays per server. All of them level 90 Jedis.

But I still have friends that play in the Kettemoor server, and I've been thinking about re subscribing for awhile. But the only problem is that my best and only character hasn't been used in since August 2006. Would it, by any chance, still be in the server? Thanks for replies.
