Truly intimate (spoiler ahead)

Well I found this gem in the san luis library collection so it must be out in the us somehoo.

I liked the portrayal of ordinariness and the people played everything well. I laughed out loud at the hand in the cake thru the box lid scene.

There was quite a few funny vignettes like the dancing girls wiggling on the tv etc.
Good movie

Beautiful film. It's heart warming genuiness is the best thing about it. This isnt fake film and the story and the nature of the people encountered within the film is awesome.

At first I was bored by the film, but then I became involved in the characters. None of them are very unusual, but as the relatively inconsequential events of the story played out I was absorbed by their importance to each of the characters. All were seeking basic human needs, intangible, but vital to human existence. All the characters are poor, lonely, and in some way trapped in a futile existence.
A multiprocessor is not much, but very important to a poor woman struggling to find something she could feel good and a little special about, she needed to win, just once maybe. The cake was of suck value to the salesman seeking to impress the widow, and perhaps relieve some of his loneliness, that he had exacting standards. But he mistakenly believes his quest has failed when he sees the widow with another man, not knowing it is her brother. He receives a second chance. The dog is not the right dog, but it fills the old mans need for forgiveness, something the kindly road worker seemed to sense.
Rather than being pathetic the stories were of courage, and desperation, from very ordinary and yet profoundly noble people. I was depressed over some events in my life when watching this movie and drew some understanding and courage from seeing these three people play out part of their lives.

you mailed it. the beauty of this film is in its humanism. it's not about excitement or heavy drama, but about the little things that matter to individuals for reasons that might seem trivial or inconsequential. for someone who is into the small details that make humanity what it is, the things that illustrate the personal minutia of the human experience, Historias Minimas is a true gem

interestingly, it reminds me of a lot of the films I've seen from Iran, particularly the ones directed by Abbas Kiarostami and those of Rafi Pitts

some of the best moments we pass in this life are in the dreams of others

I consider it to be a small gem as well. Really enjoyed it, and its melancholic view fitted me great.
