I don't have to convince anyone here, since the votes are in, and it's earned a 4.6/10 here on IMDb. (I'm a bit more generous -- I gave it a well-deserved 5)

This film is just terrible.

It's devoid of emotion, devoid of backstory, devoid of romance, devoid of symbolism, and repetitive of plot and character.

It's all the more shocking when you consider the obvious (but apparently uncredited) source material is The Great Gatsby, which is rich in all those things.

We're barely given enough time to learn their names. Then it's over. And nobody cares.

What you wrote did not make any sense whatsoever. This was not a lazy film by any means. It had a great plot. It definately had emotion a backstory aand romance. Obviously you did not see this film at all. It is very good.
