The original movie version (Slight spolier)

As some might know, this is a remake of a movie from the late 70's/early 80's(I do not recall the year as I neither recall the title of the original).
It had the same plot, and also the exact same ending (Included the pill-man on the wall).
The problem is that I have not been able to relocate it by searching on the title of this remake, hence this post to see if anyone recall the title of it?
