I bought the dvd for 4.50 at a used dvd store and...

Im a huge guy ritchie fan. I loved lock stock, I loved Snatch, I liked revolver, and I loved RocknRolla. I had never seen Swept Away because it was supposedly one of the worst movies ever made. You know how The Dark Knight was being called amazing before it came out? You remember how after it came out It was being called the best movie ever made? It wasnt but it was damn good..great. The complete opposite happened to Swept Away...before it came out people hated it, it was hyped as being terrible, then it came out and no one saw it but everyone still hated it. This movie could have never succeeded, people made up there minds long before it got to theaters. I watched it , I was ready to agree with everyone who bashed it. But from the opening scene onwards I was entertained, and not in a so bad its good kind of way but a wow this actually kind of good way. then 30 minutes in it switches. then an hour in it switches again. I understand that this film suffers from lack of not knowing what it is but there really isnt anything horrible about it. There are more + then - imo I think people just got caught up in the hype of hating. This is a decent flick with a few great moments.

Inglorious Basterds is 2009.

What you're "missing" is that Simon was/is a pop-rock singer, Streisand
is a vocalist. Streisand has done pop-rock singing of course - singing
ON THE BEAT - and Simon has dabbled in standards. And not too successfully.
As for Vanity's "civility" comment, that was due to your "blowing it"
jab. You don't need to be so rude, do you? And please stop requesting
my presence here by posting on other boards - it's inappropirate to the
other posters.

well,la-de-da.. I am being 'inappropirate" to viewers because I uttered your name on another board? You are ridiculous and pompous, and a phony.
I posted your name ONE time; did the 'viewers say they were devastated by it

If you had given me an articulate reply instead of glossing over, I never would of been rude. You don't have to reply to a thread-- but if you do,don't minimize it.

>>MY question was why Simon and her ex,James Taylor use no vibrato, and why Simon sounds off-key. Your reply has nothing to do with my question.
It's not about who sings the "standards" or the the "pop" songs, etc.
If you don't know,Mr. Expert, move on to the next thread.

gbennet, you're talking to a brick wall. I and several other posters have been the victims of this control-freak's rude comments. He usually deletes people he disagrees with (which is almost everyone). My advice is to put the guy on ignore. He really is beyond talking to.

And he's extremely peculiar. I have previously enjoyed discussing
Streisand, but when he "paged" me by POSTING on another board, I thought
that was pretty strange. But then I get attacked when I state my
opinion on the difference between Carly Simon and Streisand (and I like
both singers). Yes, I will be ignoring this moron in the future and
I appreciate your support.

I totally agree.

Glad somebody else on here felt a similar way as i did when watching it.
I got it for a £1 from a local second hand dvd store and i watched it through and i really liked the first 25 minutes or so,i did kind of feel somewhat uncomfortable with the whole slapping her around in the middle section , and i actually found the ending quite moving, i guess the music added to the scene, spiegel im spiegel by Arvo Part.
I am a Madonna fan, but not the kind of fan who has to say everything she has done is incredible, because she has done the odd thing where ive thought " hmmmm " but i actually thought the film was not that bad at all.

I agree! From the music of Arvo Part, Mazzy Star and the song at the beginning..the scenery, as well as the love story behind it, there was a great deal to love about this movie. I think that people hate Madonna! I think that's it. And while I thought her acting in this was a bit childish, she had some good moments. As I stated before, if Jennifer Aniston had starred in it, or Cameron Diaz, most would have loved this. I think it still would have gone straight to video, but it wouldn't have been so rigidly and unfairly reviewed.

The lead actor is a predominantly Italian actor. How many of us could not only act out a love scene in front of someone's director/spouse, but also do it in another language? Not too many. Giannini was great. Full stop!
