I'd love to agree, but Shenmue first came out on Dec 29th 1999...
Doesn't really seem fair to compare them, so I'll say that this is easily my favourite Mega Drive release, along with UMK3!

1. Chrono Trigger
2. Super Metroid
3. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
4. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
5. Metal Gear Solid
Sonic the Hedgehog. 2 is a great platformer.
