Did anybody else hear this?!?!

OK, there was a part in this game that really scared the hell out of me. It wasn't related to the game itself. It was in an apartment at the relative beginning of the game, maybe a couple hours into it, a little bit before you chase that guy onto a train. Anyway, you go into this apartment and kill maybe three guys. On the TV, there's a picture that you can't quite tell what it is, and a crazy-sounding man is telling a story about how he's hiding behind the curtain of a stage, and onstage there is a talking flamingo (?) saying weird, garbled things, and the guy is like, "Somehow, I know exactly what he is saying. 'Mirrors are more fun than television.'" Then, the flamingo says something he can't understand, and he's like, "He knows where I am, he's coming for me, and then I wake up screaming strapped to the hospital bed." I'm just paraphrasing. I know it doesn't sound creepy, being about a flamingo, but I couldn't even sleep that night. I don't know why it affected me like that, but it did! It might be different on the PC version, but if it's the same, maybe there's a sound file in the game folder that you can listen to...? I don't know, I just want SOMEone to tell me they heard it and I'm not crazy!!

reply

Relax my friend, you are not going crazy. This part is a send up of Twin Peaks (which in itself is quite odd) and it is about the man's reoccuring dream of the flamingo and seeing himself laughing madly. That's as much as I know.

reply

LOL I totally agree...after that I blew the TV away and walked more carefully...it did scare the hell out of me in truth...it was very creepy...a session 9 type feeling...anyways just wanted to let you know youre NOT alone!

reply

Ah...thanks dudes. I might have to see Twin Peaks then just to know more about it. And I'm glad I have your support :)

Both the nightmare levels scared the hell out of me. I heard that sound too,
But the thing that freaked me out the most is on Part 2 prolouge, when you head down the passage to the babies bedroom, and all the walls are suddenly covered with blood and you can hear the baby screaming.
Those nightmare levels are so well made.

Thought you might try escaping...so I just took the liberty of removing your horse's brain

reply

Okay, I did that level again. I can see the pictures on the TV screen, but cant here anything... this is annoying.

when i wuld die in the second blood path, there was that freakish loud scream. also,in the first dream when u walk into the baby's room, take a look at the little boxes with the letters on them (theyre being moved around)and they end up spelling "DEAD".it's right next to the fallen down crib

Elephant Man is a good movie though

reply

Oh I know, I killed the TV too! Weird! The flamingo, not that we both killed the TV. He was eerie.

"I can't believe she killed me, man! Who'da f*@#in' thought that?!"

reply

From playing the second game, I think it was an episode of the fake TV series "Address Unknown."
I think I'm right on this.

this is non-related to Max Payne, this is for the board messages such as this one...how do I make those smiley's? I've tried everything

by the way it was so freaky of a sound in the second nightmare sequence, when u fall off the blood trail, that I switched my stereo to Comedy Central while playing the game at the same time

I laughed my freakin ace off at that the first time I heard it. It's awesome how the guy sounds so out of his mind. He's like "And then I, not me, but my double, smiles and laughs at this thing like it were the funniest thing in the world." And then when there's that long dragged out scream when he goes "I have *no* idea what that means." its just funny. How did that scare you? That's just goofy. From then on whenever I went into that room I took special care not to shoot the TV so I could watch that.

reply

I think the show was "Adress unknown" which was in Max Payne 2 also.

Yeah i thought it was weird to but i haven't gave it much tought, but those nightmare levels... i never finished them too scary sorry but the nightmare levels in Max Payne 2 are not that scary if you ask me.

PS: This is a link to a speedwalkthrough from Max Payne you can hear the tv very shortly in the fear that gives men wings level.

Do you have a legit Max Payne version? The warez (downloaded) versions miss files, probably to shrink size. This is what causes the all famous (for MP1 community guys) tutorial level error. The only solution is to buy the game.

reply

Yeah that particular episode of Address Unknown freaked me out too!!

Did you notice the scream at the end of that one is also the same scream Max hears in the Nightmare levels on the blood trail bits? His baby's scream!

And yes, the nightmare levels were horribly creepy, very Silent Hill!

Although my favourite was "Lords and Ladies"! :)

Announcer: This week on "Address Unknown"...

Man: I don't want to go there. It's the last place I'd want to end up. But that's where I always end up anyway. Only, it's not me talking to the pink Flamingo, but someone who looks the part down to the finest detail, except that he's evil. I'm hiding in the shadows, watching it all unfold.

[Breathing starts in the background]

Man: The Flamingo speaks, it can speak here. It says:

Flamingo: Nirs ah mo ten tan television. [Robot-type voice]

Man: That's "Mirrors are more fun than television." Somehow I know this, just don't ask me how.

[An evil laugh starts in the background]

Man: And I, not me, but my double, nods and smirks at this like it was their funniest thing in the world.

[A painful-sounding scream starts in the background]

Man: And then something goes wrong. And suddenly they know I'm there, hiding behind them and they both turn to look at me with cold eyes. And the Flamingo speaks again:

Flamingo: The Flesh of Fallen Angels. [Robot-type voice]

Man: I have no idea what that means.

[A long scream starts in the background]

Man: And, that's when I always wake up to my own scream, in that bright-lilied white hospital room, strapped to my bed.

I remember the scream in the nightmare was so loud and jarring that I would mute my tv when I fell off the blood trail
