I obtained my copy thru the website. I don't know if they are still available. With Gerard Butler's steady rise to stardom, it would make sense to put it out again.
Ariel Vromen was the Ex Producer/Director/Screenplay person. I was able to contact him by email to tell him how much I enjoyed the short story, and how well I thought the "joke" was handled. He emailed back to thank me.
Try the website.
Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I hadn't been on the boards for awhile.
Hey! Thank you so much for responding. As you can see I don't check on these things too often either. Still haven't located any copy of the DVD or have any clue as to where to begin. The website hasn't proved too helpful since it's an Amazon site and they don't carry it. Blast!
I just read on GB.net that the DVD is not available at this time, for whatever reason.
I believe Vromen's email address was on the order form, or somewhere on the website, but this would have been 3-4 years ago. He could be contacted thru his agent, but it sounds to me like that has happened, and there are no DVD's available. They may be weighing the value of putting them out again, or GB has bought up the rights to keep this little classic from being distributed more widely than it already is! Just Kidding, it is very cute.
importer, how do you feel about making a copy of yours. The distributors have said they will not be putting out any more, so there is no way for anyone to ever get to see this again unless they get a "copied" copy.
I'm wondering why "Jewel of the Sahara" isn't available anymore on VHS or DVD. Can anyone help me and tell me where I can order it online, if that is still an option. Thanks a lot!
Finally got to see this, but the girl who had the DVD refused to tell me or my friends where she got it. It was the actual real DVD of the film but I have no idea why she felt she had to be so secretive about it Would love to get a copy but it's not worth paying a large amount of money on Ebay, no matter how funny the ending is
I'm waiting for this to circulate amongst fellow Gerry fans before I can see it. I too wish I had a copy of the short flick, but can wait to catch it through whomever has the dvd's out there.
This was a student project, so it probably isn't going to be available to the public w/o a lot of hoops being jumped through. I think copying is the only way a lot of people are going to see it, and I don't think that's unethical under the circumstaces, as long as no profit, only costs, are involved. JMO
As a fellow GB.netter and "lover of all things Gerry", I have been requesting titles of his earlier work ("PLEASE!", "FAST FOOD") to NETFLIX.com in the hopes that they may start carrying the DVD versions. I also submitted the request for "JEWEL OF THE SAHARA" so let's keep our fingers crossed!
Has anyone thought of sending a request for the DVD to Gerard himself? Here is a mailing address for his fan club and some GB.netters have actually gotten responses from him.
Mr. Gerard Butler c/o International Creative Management Oxford House 76 Oxford Street London, England W1D 1BS
I am also a Gerry fan trying to get my copy of Jewel of the Sahara, but I haven't got much luck. I did get an e-mail from Ariel Vromen. He said that they will release the dvd sometime in December 2005. I just hope that is true.
Hello everyone, I came across the this link while I was on GB.net. It is the link to download "Jewel Of The Sahara". It might take a while to download. It took over 2 hours to download to my computer and that's with DSL. I hope the link works for everyone that would like to use it. I can't figure out how to get it to where you can click on it here, so just highlight the link and paste it in the search bar and it should take you there. It should say download the movie here, so press "here" and it will bring you to Megaupload. When you get there, look in the top right-hand corner of the screen and it should say to wait for a few seconds or so and then afer you wait it will say that you can download now. GOOD LUCK!!!
Thanks for posting the link dragonlady52! I just finished watching this movie and it was hilarious! ROTFLOL Gerry was awesome as usual and totally hot!
